Main Building Rooms​

We offer a selection of charming rooms located on both floors* of the main Hotel building, all within easy reach of our Restaurant and Bar.

Courtyard Rooms

Located over two floors* our Courtyard Rooms are surrounded by our South Terrace and Resident’s Garden. These great value rooms are light, airy and comfortable.

Two-Bedroom Suites

Our two-bedroom suites, with two main bedrooms and an additional lounge with sofa bed**, are ideally suited for large families or groups of friends with children.

Family Rooms & One Bedroom Suites​

We can offer double and twin rooms in the main Hotel building, with additional separate lounge spaces with sofa beds**. These adaptable spaces are perfect for families with children.

Pets are welcome

We are happy to welcome your four-legged friends for a cost of £25 per pet for the whole of your visit. We have designated dog-friendly rooms in the Courtyard and The Auckland Walk is conveniently located opposite the Hotel, offering miles of walks.

With this cost of your PAW package, your furry friend will receive a bag of treats and a toy. Food and water bowls and beds are available to hire from reception if you forget yours.

Accessibility

All of our ground floor rooms in the main building are accessible (including all public areas), and two ground floor rooms within the Hotel have been adapted to accommodate guests with accessibility requirements. One of these rooms can also interconnect to another bedroom if assistance during your stay is required. If we are able to help with your reservation or anything during your stay, or if you have more specific requirements, please do contact us and we will be happy to help wherever we can.

Check-in

Check-in is available from 3pm, with check-out at 11am. Guests are welcome to leave luggage with us before check-in or after check-out. Early checks in or late check out may be available on request – please feel free to ask! We will always do our best to help.
* Please specify if a ground floor room is required upon booking, as unfortunately no lift is available.
** We would advise that sofa beds sleep two children or one adult.

Methods of Payment

Guests are welcome to make payments with cash, bank transfer and credit/debit cards with the exception of American Express. Whilst cash is welcomed as a method of payment, please be advised that any same-day reservations wishing to pay cash on arrival will also need to provide a £100 pre authorisation on a valid credit or debit card upon arrival.

Failure to provide this pre-authorisation for same day reservations paying cash will result in refusal to accommodate your reservation. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions page.

How to find us

Park Head Hotel is ideally located at the heart of County Durham, just minutes from the cultural hub of Bishop Auckland and within easy reach of Durham City.

Parking

Park Head has easy access to the A1. If following a SatNav, our full address is: Park Head Hotel, New Coundon, Bishop Auckland, DL14 8QB.

 

Parking is complimentary for all Hotel guests and visitors, and we have designated disabled parking spaces available on-site. We also have four electric-vehicle charging points available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

If you plan to visit Bishop Auckland as part of your stay, parking is readily available at North Bondgate Car Park and can be reached within 5 minutes. The town centre can also be reached on foot, and the walk takes approximately 30 minutes.
